Rippledot advised Kirin on the acquisition of a 55 percent shareholding in Myanmar Brewery from Fraser and Neave, valuing 100 percent of the equity in Myanmar Brewery at more than US$1 billion.
Myanmar Brewery is the owner of a portfolio of several well-known brands, including Myanmar Beer, and has a dominant market share in the national beer market.
Headquartered in Tokyo, Kirin is one of the world’s largest beverage companies. The acquisition of Myanmar Brewery adds significantly to Kirin’s holdings across the region, which includes Lion Nathan in Australia and 48 percent of San Miguel Brewery in the Philippines.
The acquisition represents the largest ever M&A deal in Myanmar and demonstrates Rippledot’s ability to add value to a major international client on a complicated acquisition in a nascent market.
